64 Fantastic Ways to Increase Your Catalog Response

The trend of the future will most likely be catalogs that resemble magazines as closely as possible. This catalog marketing idea will give you a catalog design that will increase the perceived value of your catalog and increase its readability and acceptance.

OK, you want to know where I’m getting this crazy catalog marketing idea from… I’ve got a copy of my report “64 Fantastic Ideas to Increase Your Catalogs Response” right in front of me, and I just pulled out idea #1 to share with you.

You just brought today’s mail in and you are holding a catalog and a magazine in your hand, which one are you more likely to save? That catalog is more likely to end up in the trash. A magazine seems to have more importance, something you save to read. Let’s give that same appeal to your catalog!

A Magazine Cover for Better Catalog Results:

Now we are going to take advantage of the appeal and looks of a magazine for your catalog. Design your catalog cover with a magazine in mind. Incorporate into it a magazine masthead look. Design this masthead to include your catalog name. “Lands’ End” does a good job of this. And don’t forget to include your cutline under the masthead. This is the line that describes what you are all about such as this one from the “Doctors Foster and Smith” catalog “Quality Products For Small Pets.”

Include on your cover such magazine type items as a cover price (even though you give your catalog away put something like a $5 or $3 price on it to increase its perceived value and keep it from getting thrown out) Lines of large copy across the cover describing what’s featured inside with the page numbers looks cool. You know, like you’ve seen on magazines.

I like to see artwork depicting the lower right cover corner being pulled back to reveal a listing of some of the features or special items inside or just highlighting a special item. Or how about showing more of the cover being pulled back and a bunch of your products popping out? You’ve got to entice those buyers to look inside your catalog!

Let this Catalog Marketing Idea Continue on Inside:

Now consider creating a catalog where the inside pages resemble a magazine. The pages could contain some articles spaced around your merchandise selections. If you want to get real clever, the articles could be written to tie in with the merchandise being offered and the copy would promote these items. Of course these articles will be selling messages for your products giving examples of how to use your products. Or if say you are selling decorating items, have articles that describe how to do certain projects and mention how to do it with your products. If you are selling gourmet food items or spices or something like that throw in a few recipes which call for the use of your products of course.

Including pertinent articles will give your catalog pages more of a magazine flavor, increase customer interest and increase your catalog results! But be careful, if you don’t tie-in the articles and layout smoothly, you take the risk of confusing your readers.

Give Your Catalog Marketing the Timeliness of a Monthly Magazine:

Make your catalog similar to a monthly magazine! You wouldn’t necessarily have to mail one out every month. Just spotlight a certain month, say July. Then put a July cover date on your catalog. Everything in this catalog could tie in with July activities. Highlight such activities as picnics, swimming, beaches, parties, 4th of July celebrations... hot weather fun of all kinds. Include artwork with strong July themes. Further enhance this theme by including appropriate articles and features.

This monthly magazine concept will work well for catalogs selling clothes, gourmet food, toys, electronics, gifts and a lot of other different items. Just use a little creative thinking to see how this would fit in with your products. There are so many more great magazine style catalog ideas you can use, pick up several magazines and get creative!

This was just idea #1, there are 63 Fantastic Ideas to Increase Your Catalog Response left, get them at…

Profit from Two Languages in Promoting Websites and Business with Bilingual Marketing

If you run an internet business you should benefit from these tips about bilingual marketing. If you are running your business in an English speaking country then you should analyze which second language your potential customers would like to use to find your website and buy from you.

If you are running an internet business in a non-English speaking country you should make sure to have an English version of the site, too. That will give you access to millions more of potential customers.

When you plan your online visibility in two languages you have 3 options:

1. Bilingual website divided on two domains

You can keep your two language versions on two different domains. That will give you the advantage that you can have key word rich domain names in the relevant language or use national domains, like we have with google.com and google.fr.

2. Bilingual website divided on one domain, but two subdomains

This is another option, as the subdomains will function as two domains. But it can also be set up, so the main site is in the root of the domain and the extra language is in a subdomain, like we see with Yahoo: yahoo.com as the general English language version, and fr.yahoo.com/ as the French version of Yahoo.

3. The bilingual website is divided with the second language version in a subfolder.

This is a very common approach to a bilingual website and it will function fine for a smaller site. On the other side you will not benefit from some of the special possibilities for the promotion through bilingual marketing.

For some time it has been possible to include an automatic translation script on the English language web pages. The script using Google's translation service will then translate the concrete webpage to the desired language when the visitor is just pushing a button. Scripts exist at the moment to translate English texts into Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Chinese language.

At the moment such translator scripts are more for marketing purpose, as the quality of the translated text is very different from what a human translator could do. On the other had the translated text will definitely give the visitor an impression of what the webpage is about. If you make links to the translated urls from other websites you might get some extra traffic through the search engines.

Improving visibility with free articles

Many marketers have realized that writing and distributing articles for free reprint and use is one of the very best marketing tools we have today. Such article marketing rides on the power of viral marketing. When each article is uploaded to article directories like EzineArticles.com, GoArticles.com, website-articles.net and ArticleCity.com they will live their own life in cyberspace and promote your ideas, back links and branding for years to come.

When you have a bilingual capability yourself it will give you a nice advantage, as you can distribute your articles in two languages.

Powerful Strategies For Successful Article Marketing

Submitted By: Corte Swearingen

A good article submission strategy will not only help position you as an expert in your field, but will also provide you with important inbound links that will work to increase your web traffic. So what's the best way to jumpstart your article submission program? Just follow the strategies in this article.

Article:

There are three important reasons to consider using article marketing as a means to build your online business.

1. To position yourself as an expert in your field.

2. To drive traffic to your website.

3. To secure high-quality one-way inbound links to your website

Here are three simple strategies that build upon the above.

Article Submission Strategy

  1. Identify Quality Article Sites.
There are many article sites out there and it can be difficult to select the ones that will have the most impact on your business.

There are two kinds of article submission sites; general purpose and industry-specific.

The general purpose sites contain a wide variety of topics from relationship articles to pet advice to book reviews. When you select a general purpose site, it is important to make sure they have a category that closely matches your target audience. If they don’t, move on and locate another site.

The industry specific article sites focus on a particular business area. An example of an industry specific site would be Small Business Brief, which focuses articles on helping the small business owner.

A good article submission strategy will utilize both specific and generic article sites. Start with identifying your industry specific sites and then look to add a generic site or two to round out your list.

  2. Select Articles Sites with High PageRank
PageRank is a measure of how many high-quality inbound links a site has obtained.
You can see the PageRank of any website by downloading the Google Toolbar on your web browser and enabling the PageRank feature. Once this is done, you will see an indication of PageRank within the toolbar for every site you visit. PageRank is given as a number between zero and ten, with ten being the best possible score.

One of the advantages of article marketing is that you are allowed to place links back to your website in the author bio area at the end of your article. By sticking with high PageRank article sites, these links back to your website carry more weight. I recommend sticking with article sites that have a PageRank of 4 or higher. Ultimately, you want to select article sites that have a higher PageRank than your own site.

  3. Avoiding Duplicate Content
As search engines have gotten smarter, they have built in filters that help cut down on duplicate content in search results. So, for example, if you have an original article you wrote on your PageRank 3 site and that same article is reproduced on a PageRank 5 article distribution site, the chances are good your site will get pushed down the search engine rankings for the main keywords used in the article.

Many people who use article marketing simply copy the content they have already produced on their website. I recommend you spend some time rewriting your article so that at least 30% of it is unique content.

Here are some tips for changing your content without having to rewrite the entire article.

- Select a different title for your article
- Completely rewrite the first paragraph and the last paragraph
- Reword the first sentence of the middle paragraphs
- Cut some content or add some completely new content

Although it takes a little extra time to do this, I feel the results are worth it. Some marketers will not agree that this is necessary, but the reality is that no one knows for sure how Google is filtering out duplicate content. Since their algorithms are constantly changing, it’s better to play it safe and do a little rewriting.

Make the Most of Your Article Marketing Program

I’m a strong advocate of article marketing. However, too much of a good thing can be counterproductive. To make the most of your article marketing program, I recommend the following.

  1. Do not use article marketing software. While it can be tempting to use software that submits to hundreds of article marketing sites, the search engines can penalize you if you start building links very quickly. In addition, the quality of submissions can be quite poor. Your much better off to maintain control over your article distribution.
  2. Select 5-7 quality article submission sites and stick with them. You may submit the same exact article to each article site as long as it differs enough from the original article on your own website.
  3. Make sure you link back to your site in your author bio area. Most article submission sites will allow 2-3 links back to your website. Take advantage of this! This is one of the main reasons to submit quality articles.
  4. Be consistent in submitting articles. There’s no need to submit more than one quality article a week. If you have the time, you can certainly submit more. But remember, article marketing should be only one strategy in an overall comprehensive marketing program.
  5. Submit quality articles. If your article devolves into a few short low-quality paragraphs, you’ll end up hurting your reputation in the long run. In addition, you may find that article sites start flagging your articles and refusing to publish them. Always submit quality material with the intent to help your target audience.

Following these strategies will provide you with additional web traffic and help increase your search engine rankings by building quality inbound links. Don’t delay – start your own article marketing program today!

Set Your Business Apart With Video Marketing

Submitted By: Matthew Bredel

Although it was once considered a marketing tool for the big businesses, video marketing is now quite accessible to all entrepreneurs from newbie to big dog. With all of the tools available, it is possible to create videos for a fraction of the cost. This is good news for online entrepreneurs who could use a boost in their traffic numbers. Video marketing has proven to be one of the best ways to increase traffic and sales with a great return on investment.

Are that many people really watching videos? The answer is YES. Reports show that more than 50% of the U.S. population will watch videos online this year. Furthermore, video is an excellent tool for the many people who do not read well or have trouble comprehending the written word.

Video marketing also feels more like entertainment or education than advertising. People are growing tired of watching and reading advertisements or ads disguised as articles. Watching a video is more appealing and feels like less work on their behalf.

Marketing 101 tells us to look for what the people want and give it to them. That’s why video marketing is proving so successful. Whether it is informational, personal or primarily for entertainment purposes, video is better able to fulfill a need than ads or the written word.

Break it Down and Just Do It

Chances are, you have heard all about the wildly successful video marketing but you are unsure about how to utilize it for your own business promotions. The key is to take it step-by-step:

Identify your video topic—Know your target market and what they want. While some people are looking for insider tips or an education, others are searching for entertainment or a way to get to know you and your business better. Consider these things as you determine the right tone and topic for your videos.

Come up with the perfect keywords—Choosing the right keyword for search engine optimization of your video is the best way to put your video to work for your marketing purposes. Good keywords are related to your business and niche; they should also have a high search volume. Identifying the right keywords may take some research, but it is worth the effort. There are many free online tools that can help you in your keyword research.

Plan out the production—Rather than just throwing something together and risking the chance of rambling or creating a confusing video message, plan out your dialogue. Do you want to write out the script or ad-lib? Either way, you want to make sure your message is clear and to the point. If you drift off into rambling conversation or get too dull, you’ll lose your viewer and possibly a potential sale. So keep it interesting and value-packed for your viewers and make sure your message is relevant and clear.

Know how to distribute your videos—So you have a video…what now? It is important to know how to distribute it in order to make the most out of your video. Programs such as Traffic Geyser can help walk you step-by-step through the distribution and promotion process. It makes the process pretty effortless, and will likely help you to get that great ROI you are looking for with your videos.

Whether you are hoping to benefit from a little YouTube traffic or just want to direct people to a video on your website, now is a great time to give video marketing a try. While it may seem overwhelming, with the right tools and a good understanding of the method, you can experience great success pulling in much-needed traffic.

Testing Your Way to Website Profits

Submitted By: Corte Swearingen

Testing has always an important part in marketing and advertising. Companies that took the time to test were the ones that were able to zero in on offers yielding high conversion rates.

The problem is that, for the small business owner, large scale direct mail testing is too expensive and not practical. The solution? Use your website as a means to quickly and easily test page elements, finding the combination that maximizes conversion rate.

We are going to look at two basic types of web testing; A/B split testing and multivariate testing.

A/B Split Testing

This is the most basic type of test you can perform. The way it works is by splitting your web traffic evenly across two different versions of a page. Let’s say you have a landing page for the sale of your ebook. You get decent sales from the page but you want to find a way to improve those conversions.

With an A/B split test, you would test an alternate version of your sales page against the current one. A program works in the background to deliver the current version of the page to 50% of visitors and the new test page to the other 50%. After a set period of time, you see which page is converting better and use that as your new landing page (as well as the page to beat in future A/B split tests.)

One disadvantage of A/B split testing is that you can really only test one item at a time. For example, suppose you test a page by changing both the heading and the image. After the test, you find the page has a 25% higher conversion rate than the original. What you don’t know is whether it was the new heading, the new image, or the combination of the two that made the difference.

Because of this, A/B split testing is typically done by changing only one variable at a time. This means that you cannot test variable interactions and combinations. So, A/B split testing is best for when you only want to test a single page element. But what if you need to test multiple factors? That’s a job for multivariate testing.

Multivariate Testing

Multivariate testing allows you to simultaneously test several variables on a page. This allows for variable interactive testing, something that just can’t be done with A/B Split testing.

For example, with multivariate testing, you could test a page’s headline, images, pricing and guarantees all at the same time. Each of your visitors would see a different combination of elements and, given enough time, you would see the combination that produced the highest conversion rate.

You would then change out your existing sales page with the one the produced the highest conversion rate from your multivariate test. Because you are testing multiple elements, you need to have a good amount of traffic coming to your site to complete the test in a reasonable time. If you don’t have at least 200 unique visitors per day, then stick with A/B split testing until your traffic increases.

The Google Website Optimizer

The Google Website Optimizer is a free program allows you to run both A/B split and multivariate tests on your website. You’ve just have to give credit to the folks at Google. They have made it possible for the small business owner to use sophisticated conversion rate tools without the need to purchase expensive software or on-site consultants.

Check out the Google Website Optimizer homepage today for instructions on setting up your tests. Make no mistake, testing your landing pages is the number one way to increase your conversion rates. Start testing your way to higher profits today.

Choosing Your Internet Marketing Niche

Submitted By: John E Adams

When it comes to internet marketing, you can’t be all things to all people.

When you try to be broad, you don’t end up being deep enough to do anyone much good. Those are the facts of life and they’re also the facts of Internet marketing.

If you want to make money in the IM field, you’re going to have to stake a claim on some particular topic areas and products. You’re going to need a niche.

How do you make that decision? A few different factors can guide your decision making. Some are purely academic and dispassionate. Others are highly personal. Looking at them all should help you to decide where to concentrate your marketing efforts.

The dispassionate part of the decision is a matter of crunching numbers. You want to work in a niche that’s going to allow you to generate a healthy income. While it is possible to “create a niche” from scratch with a truly game-changing product, it’s usually necessary to make a decision based on the immediate potential for success.

You need to look at the products that are available in the niche.

You’ll want to do keyword research to discover how competitive the topic area is. You’ll need to evaluate your competition and their probable levels of success. You want to do everything in your power to make sure that there is a real chance of making money in a niche before you jump in.

It’s ideal if you find a massive need in the marketplace and no one (or few people) trying to fill it. That won’t always happen, though. In fact, it won’t happen that often.

That means you’ll probably be working in a niche that has some competition--maybe a great deal of competition. Don’t let that scare you. It’s a sign that someone is making money.

Doing your homework and crunching the numbers is important, but it isn’t the only thing you need to do.

If you’re going to be working in a particular niche, you’re going to be spending a great deal of time on its issues.

Content creation, research, promotion… It requires some effort. You need to decide if you can put in the hours necessary to achieve maximum success. Part of that decision is going to rest on your interest level in the topic area.

While some people can work in any niche, whether they care about it personally or not, most find it easier to deal in an area that they enjoy. There might be a great opportunity out there for someone whose willing to work in the “orange widget” niche.

If you absolute hate orange widgets, find them dull, don’t think they work worth a hoot, and roll your eyes every time they’re mentioned, it’s probably not going to be the kind of niche that will work for you.

When it comes to internet marketing what is the right niche?

Finding the right niche for your online business requires an examination with respect to potential profitability and a consideration of whether it’s sufficiently in line with your personal interests.

If you keep both sides of the niche selection coin in mind, you’re likely to make a good decision. Neglect either, and you might be cursing your shortsightedness as your project flounders.
